Losing data means losing money! - the power of education

Cybercriminals use different manipulation techniques to obtain consumer data. This may have a very serious impact on our wallets and savings. President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection continues to warn "Losing data means losing money!". This is one of the numerous educational activities of UOKiK.
- It is extremely important to inform consumers about digital threats as comprehensively as possible. I wish to thank very much to the media, institutions and entrepreneurs who have responded to the appeal and joined our campaign “Losing data means losing money!” free of charge. I strongly encourage you to act jointly and warn consumers. The louder we talk about the methods of data fraud and the more spots are broadcast, the fewer chances fraudsters will have” - says Tomasz Chróstny, President of UOKiK.
The materials of the “Losing data means losing money!" campaign can be downloaded from UOKiK. Up to now, more than 80 entities have joined the initiative of UOKiK. Since December last year, the campaign spots could have been watched or heard throughout the country: on television, radio, Internet portals and social media, as well as media in public space.
- How serious and unfortunately frequent a phenomenon we are dealing with is shown by the results of our survey on UOKiK profile at Instagram. 900 people took part in it. As many as 80 per cent of them received SMS for a parcel with a suspicious link. Data theft can be experienced by every consumer – emphasizes Tomasz Chróstny, President of UOKiK.
The “Losing data means losing money" campaign is one of many educational initiatives of UOKiK, undertaken to increase consumer awareness of their rights and threats to them. Throughout Poland, we are conducting the "Youth with rights @ modern times" project using the trap simulator in Konsument.edu.pl network. Cybersecurity, consumer rights, finances, personal data protection – submit a school to participate in free educational activities.
