Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has approved two transactions that will allow Auchan Polska to implement the conditions required for it to proceed with its acquisition of the Real company. Both mergers involve the implementation of the conditions imposed by UOKiK in its 2014 decision approving the takeover of the Real chain by Auchan Polska. The decision stipulated that Auchan Polska sell eight hypermarkets, which it will now do, to Anciens Etablissmements Georges Schiever et Fils, of France. As part of the second merger, Auchan will be able to take over from Schiever Polska two hypermarkets that have been jointly controlled by Auchan Polska and Schiever Polska.
