Consent for concentration: Abra

President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection has given her consent for Steinhoff Global Investments’ taking control over JD Group Europe – including the chain of furniture stores Abra

Steinhoff Global Investments (Austria) is a holding company belonging to the Steinhoff International Holdings capital group (RPA) operating in the business of manufacture as well as wholesale and retail sale of furniture and other interior furnishings. In Poland, the Steinhoff group operates seven plants manufacturing upholstered furniture. JD Group Europe (Holland) has a subsidiary in Poland – i.e. Abra, which owns a nationwide chain of furniture stores. As a result of the concentration Steinhoff Global will take control over a chain of 74 furniture stores and six warehouses in Poland belonging to Abra.

In accordance with the provisions, the transaction is subject to notification to the antitrust authority, if it involves enterprises whose total turnover in the preceding year exceeded EUR 1 billion globally or EUR 50 million in Poland

Having conducted antitrust proceedings the President of the Office decided that the concentration would not significantly restrict competition.

Under law a transaction is subject to notification to the antitrust authority, if it involves undertakings whose total turnover in the preceding year exceeded EUR 1 billion worldwide and EUR 50 million in Poland.

Please be advised that the Office’s website includes information on all antitrust proceedings concerning concentration conducted by the Office.
