Consent for concentration: Totalizator sportowy

The President of UOKiK has given her consent for taking control over Casinos Polska by Totalizator Sportowy
Totalizator Sportowy is the state monopoly within number games and monetary lotteries. It also operates in the field of horse racing and sports. Casinos Poland is an expert in games of chance and mutual betting. As a result of the concentration, Totalizator Sportowy shall, in cooperation with its previous shareholder (Century Casinos Poland), take a joint control over Casinos Poland.
Under the existing regulations, a transaction is subject to a notification submitted to the antitrust authority if the transaction participants' combined turnover in the year preceding the notification exceeded 1 billion euro worldwide or 50 million euro in Poland
Having carried out antimonopoly proceedings, the President of the Office decided that the concentration shall not significantly restrict competition.
Under the existing regulations, a transaction is subject to a notification submitted to the antitrust authority if the transaction participants' combined turnover in the year preceding the notification exceeded 1 billion euro worldwide or 50 million euro in Poland.
Simultaneously we would like to inform that infomation on all antitrust proceedings concerning conentrations carried out by UOKiK, is available at the Office’s website.
Merger control shall be discussed at the debate with the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel. The debate will be held on 25th May (Wednesday) 2011 from 10.00 to 13.30 at UOKiK’s premise. The participants to the meeting will find out, inter alia, in which cases the antitrust authority has the power to prohibit a transaction and why sector inquiries carried out by the Office are beneficial for undetakings. The debate “Mergers under control” will be broadcast online at www.uokik.gov.pl.
