First UOKiK's visit to Armenia as part of the "Polish Aid" programme

The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) is implementing the project "Institutional Strengthening of the Republic of Armenia in Building a Consumer Protection System" co-financed under the "Polish Aid" – a development cooperation programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. The project is implemented to the benefit of the Armenian authority of competition and consumer protection – the Competition Protection Commission (CPC).  Due to the amendment to Armenian regulations, the Commission will additionally be tasked with meeting consumer protection objectives starting from this year.

The first visit of UOKiK's experts to Yerevan – the capital of Armenia – lasted from 27 September to 2 October. During the visit, the Polish experts presented the structure of the Office, the consumer protection system in Poland, regulations on the strategy of punishing rogue traders, communication with entrepreneurs and tools for detection of regulation violations. Meanwhile, the Armenian side showed its the consumer protection system in Armenia.

The project will consist of four visits in total: two training sessions combined with
study visits to Armenia concerning legal aspects of consumer protection
in the European Union, and two training sessions combined with study visits to Poland concerning practical aspects of consumer protection in the European Union. In addition,
on the basis of the collected materials, the UOKiK experts will prepare an analytical paper, i.e. a screening of Armenia's legislative documents that will aid the CPC in implementing optimal solutions in the field of the protection of consumer interests.

Further visits of UOKiK representatives to Armenia and the CPC are scheduled for October this year.

The project is being implemented from July to December 2021 as part of the "Polish Aid" – a development cooperation programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
