UOKiK has cleared the Geberit/Sanitec merger
< previous | next > 05.02.2015
Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has cleared Geberit to take over Sanitec, ruling that the merger will not limit competition. Both companies operate in the Polish sanitary facilities market.
The combined market share of the two companies will exceed 40 percent of the concealed cisterns market in Poland. However, the UOKiK cleared the transaction, ruling that Geberit will not be able to dictate terms and conditions to its competitors, contractors and consumers, nor, most importantly, independently establish prices on the market. Because of its international character, the merger was also reported to the competition authorities in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and France.
