The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, Cezary Banasiński, was awarded the title “Star of Europe” by BusinessWeek. Among the title winners there were Leszek Balcerowicz - the President of NBP and Marek Safjan - the President of the Constitutional Tribunal

“Star of Europe” is the title awarded by BusinessWeek to the most efficient politicians, actors and leaders of transformation in Poland. This year, in the category “decision-makers”, the award was granted to the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection Cezary Banasiński.

Providing grounds to their decision, the editor stressed that over the two and a half years of his managing the Office, he has managed to enhance the role and authority of the institution in Polish economic life. It was underlined, that after Poland’s accession to the European Union, the rank of UOKiK has been increased.

The President of the Office was also awarded for his consistency in imposing high penalties on enterprises, which commit major breaches with respect to consumers and competition.

BusinessWeek also mentioned that no less important is the achievement of Cezary Banasiński, that the Office managed by him, remains apolitical.
