Workshop for Eastern Partnership countries
  • "Merger control – issues and selected sectors” - is the topic of a workshop organised by UOKiK, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and KSAP (National School of Public Administration) for representatives from Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.
  • UOKiK continues its expertise-based support for Ukraine and other Eastern Partnership countries.
  • At the invitation of UOKiK, the initiative was joined by the European anti-trust authorities as well as the EC, US FTC and OECD.

From November 21st to November 25th , Warsaw hosts a series of workshops for representatives of anti-trust authorities from Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. The attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the many aspects of merger control, based on the experiences of practitioners from different countries. The initiative aims to support state officials from Ukraine and other Eastern Partnership countries under the expert guidance of UOKiK.

The workshop will be led by specialists representing UOKiK and anti-trust authorities from the US, France, Lithuania and Portugal. Representatives from the European Commission, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and Polish National Revenue Administration will also share their know-how and hands-on experience.

During the five-day seminar, a wide range of topics related to merger control mechanisms will be discussed, including inter alia: case studies, examples of proceedings or challenges related to the burgeoning entrepreneurial activity in e-business.

Thematic workshops conducted by practitioners will include interactive Question and Answers Sessions and participants' discussions. This will enable an exchange of experience and an in-depth analysis of the issues in the context of the specificities of the individual markets.

- Mutual support and partnership are even more important in difficult times. In the face of current challenges, we appreciate even more the importance of international cooperation and the benefits it brings. I am proud that the experience of thirty years of UOKiK's existence gives us the opportunity to support other offices. We want to join forces with our international partners and help provide the expertise needed by other antitrust authorities  - President of UOKiK, Tomasz Chróstny, said.

The project is organized as part of the Eastern Partnership Academy of Public Administration: https://ksap.gov.pl/ksap/sites/default/files/files/aappw_booklet_eng_0.pdf   and financed by Polish aid program through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
