UOKiK's President at IMPACT'22
  • Tomasz Chróstny, the President of UOKiK, took part in a fireside chat during  ImpactCEE conference.
  • The discussion focused on developing markets and international cooperation with developing countries.

On May 11, the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection in Poland (UOKiK), Tomasz Chróstny, took part in a fireside chat entitled ”European partnerships, global benefits. Is competition an export commodity?”. The chat was moderated by the journalist - Daniel Rz±sa, Editor-in-Chief, 300Gospodarka.

The discussion focused on developing markets and international cooperation with developing countries. Twinning projects - EU-funded cooperation of public administrations in the EU and partner states - was mentioned as an example of such cooperation. Within the context of the Twinning, EU administrations have a chance to promote EU solutions and brands in countries undergoing economic transformation. Currently, UOKiK is implementing the Twinning project for Morocco jointly with the national competition law authorities of Greece (Hellenic Competition Commission - HCC) and Italy (Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato - AGCM), henceforth forming a consortium. The main task facing the HCC, the UOKiK and the AGCM is to strengthen the capacity of the Moroccan Competition Authority in terms of aligning with EU laws, procedures and competition advocacy. Within this project, UOKiK has the opportunity to contribute to strengthening the economy through helping the beneficiary oversee fair competition.

In the chat, President Chróstny described the experiences and the value of international cooperation also in reference to other international projects implemented at the Office, such as the Twinning project in Serbia, Polish Aid project in Armenia and ongoing cooperation with Ukraine.

The session was held during ImpactCEE conference taking place on May 11-12, 2022 at the Poznań Congress Center.
