New president of UOKiK
  • Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki appointed Tomasz Chróstny as the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKIK).
  • Tomasz Chróstny has been the Vice President of the office so far.

 

The President of UOKiK is the central organ of public administration, directly subordinate to the Prime Minister.

Tomasz Chróstny graduated in finance and accounting at the Warsaw School of Economics and in management and production engineering at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. He also completed a postgraduate course at the Institute of Enterprise at the Warsaw School of Economics. During his studies, Tomasz Chróstny was awarded a scholarship in industrial and mechanical engineering at the Vitus Bering University College. He is also a graduate of the managerial training program ARGO Top Public Executive (equivalent to the Advanced Management Program) implemented by IESE Business School and the National School of Public Administration.

His professional career started out on projects in the field of auditing financial statements of financial institutions, company valuation and detection of crime and fraud. He also involved in making economic, market and sector analyses as well as economic forecasts.

Tomasz Chróstny worked at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, and then at the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology, where until 25 August 2019 he served as a director of the Department of Economic Analysis. Furthermore, he was a representative of the minister competent for economy in the scientific council of the Polish Institute of Economics. On 26 August 2019 he was appointed Vice President of UOKiK. He was responsible for consumer protection and preparing the Office for tasks related to reducing payment gridlocks in the economy.

He has teaching and academic experience as he is a university teacher at the Warsaw School of Economics.

He is married and has three children.

The Prime Minister appointed Tomasz Chróstny as the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection on 27 January 2020.
