Xella Poland withdraws takeover application
< previous | next > 19.01.2016
Xella Poland has withdrawn its intention to take over the Silicate Group. UOKiK had earlier expressed reservations about the company’s plans.
Both companies produce and sell masonry and wall materials. Xella Poland produces cellular concrete and silicate while the Silicate Group deals in silicates.
UOKiK’s market research for the case considered the views of 100 of the two companies’ competitors and contractors. Further analysis showed that the acquisition could significantly limit competition on local silicate production and sales markets within a radius of 200 km from the Silicate Group’s seven production facilities. It was on those grounds that UOKiK issued its objections to the transaction.
