President of the Council of Ministers Donald Tusk appointed Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel for the post of President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. She succeeded the former President of UOKiK - Marek Niechciał
Previously, since 21 June 2007, Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel had been Vice President of UOKiK, responsible for the operations of the Department of Competition Protection, the Department of Legal Affairs and European Jurisprudence and the Department of Market Surveillance. She has been working with UOKiK since 1998.
Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel holds a Ph.D. in law and for many years has been an academic lecturer, teaching antimonopoly and Community law at the University of Warsaw, Warsaw School of Economics and the National School of Public Administration. She is the author of a number of publications, including academic works, regarding Polish and Community competition protection law.
Dr. Krasnodębska-Tomkiel succeeded Marek Niechciał, who had been the President of the Office since 4 April 2007 when he was appointed for the post by the President of the Council of Ministers Jarosław Kaczyński.
According to the Polish Antimonopoly Act the President of the Office is appointed by the Prime Minister from among the members of the State Staffing Pool.
