The Office of Competition and Consumer protection will in the coming days open a preliminary investigation into potential consumer abuse resulting from manipulation of emission standards in some Volkswagen cars.

Polish unit of Volkswagen AG, Volkswagen Group Poland, has informed the Polish authorities that about 140,000 vehicles equipped with engines in question were sold on the Polish market. UOKiK will closely cooperate in its investigation with environment and vehicle inspection agencies in Poland.
