UOKiK's international seminar on vertical restraints - October 2015

Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) will host an international seminar on vertical restraints on October 13, 2015, in Warsaw

The international seminar on October 13, 2015, will inaugurate a two-day conference entitled “The Economics of Competition Protection”. The event, co-organised by UOKiK and the Centre for Antitrust and Regulatory Studies (CARS), will be dedicated to the subject of vertical agreements and the economics of competition law.

On the first day of the conference, experts from the European Commission and competition authorities from various European Union countries, as well as renown academics will debate, among others, about how assessment criteria of vertical agreements tend to be established in different countries and how leniency programmes are applied to them. The discussion will also cover vertical agreements in the e-commerce sector, including the potential infringements of banned competition-restricting practices by the so-called internet platforms (see the seminar’s programme for details).

UOKiK’s seminar (October 13) will be open to lawyers, entrepreneurs, academics and anyone else interested in competition law issues. The discussion will be held in English (a simultaneous translation into Polish will be available).

The second day of the conference (October 14) will be national in focus. It will cover the issue of economics of competition law. The discussion will not be translated into English.

Please register on-line at http://events.uokik.gov.pl/. Participation in the conference is free of charge. However, the number of available places is limited, and registrations will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
