Poland's competition Authority okays sale of Bosch-Fagormastercook
< previous | next > 20.05.2015
UOKiK has given BSH Hausgeräte its approval to purchase FagorMastercook, stating the acquisition will not significantly limit competiton on the market.
Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has approved the acquisition of FagorMastercook by BSH Hausgeräte, both of which produce and sell home appliances. FagorMastercook is a subsidiary of the Fagor capital group, currently in bankruptcy proceedings, while BSH Hausgeräte is owned by the Bosch capital group. The two companies currently compete on the oven, stovetop, microwave, dishwasher and clothes dryer markets. However, none of them should see competition significantly limited as a result of the transaction.
BSH Hausgeräte commands a significant portion of the dishwasher market in Poland, while FagorMastercook’s share amounts to less than 1 percent, leading the Authority to conclude that competition will not be affected. In addition, the German company will continue to face strong competition on the Polish market from other industry leaders, including Electrolux and Samsung.
