Acquisition in yellow pages
< previous | next > 13.05.2008
The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, Marek Niechciał, decided that EDSA may take over Ditel. The enterprises operate in the publishing and sales of advertisements in business directories.
EDSA, a Swedish company, is a part of the European Directories capital group, ranked as one of the five largest publishers of yellow pages business directories, also available on the Internet and CDs. In Poland, it operates through the Polskie Ksi±żki Telefoniczne company. Ditel deals in the same market.
The takeover will consist in EDSA purchasing 100 % of Ditel’s stock from its present owner - Telekomunikacja Polska.
Having concluded the antimonopoly proceeding, the President of the Office decided that the consolidation will not significantly lessen competition, in particular by creating or strengthening a dominant position in the market.
According to the relevant regulations, a transaction must be notified to the President of UOKiK, if it involves enterprises whose total turnover in the year preceding the notification exceeded EUR 1 billion globally or EUR 50 million in Poland.
