The requested funds for Gaz-System which UOKiK notified to the European Commission amounted to as much as PLN 1 949.57 mln. The project regards six investments in natural gas transmission systems

Since Polish accession to the EU, granting state aid to an undertaking has been allowed only upon acceptance by the European Commission, except the de minimis aid and aid granted under block exemptions. The President of UOKiK is responsible for notification of aid and individual aid schemes to the European Commission as well as participating in the proceedings before the Commission. On 27^th March, the Office notified aid project for Operator Gazociągów Przesyłowych GAZ-SYSTEM to the EC. The requested fund amounted to PLN 1 949.57 mln.

The notification regards the subsidy for the performance of 6 investments in natural gas transmission systems, namely:

• Hermanowice-Strachocina gas pipeline
• Strachocina-Pogórska Wola gas pipeline
• Zdzieszowice-Wrocław gas pipeline
• Skoczów-Komorowice-Oświęcim gas pipeline
• Modernization of gas pipelines in Dolny Śląsk to enhance the functionality and optimal operation of Poland-Germany connection
• Lwówek- Odolanów gas pipeline

These operations will be financed under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment.

The implementation of these projects will contribute to the development of natural gas transmission system in Poland, optimizing its functioning, increasing the capacity. Furthermore, it will allow for using new supply sources and gas transmission to new directions.

The Commission issues the decision on the compliance of the planned aid with the Community law within the period of two months. The deadline may be prolonged whenever in the course of proceedings the EC requests further information and clarifications; another two-month period starts as of receiving this response.
